*** It’s become a social event. I usually go with Steph, Lissy, Harry, Charlie and recently Jessica. We BOOM cycle and then go for brunch or coffee after the class (I will pretty much always come and exercise with you super early in the morning if you promise me breakfast after). I am so convinced that people will love the class that when Jess moved to London and asked if we could meet up (we hadn’t seen each other in 6 months), I told her to join me for a 7.30am BOOM class. Lawrence thought that I was crazy “you haven’t seen your friend in 6 months and not only you are dragging her out of bed super early, she will have to exercise too?!” Errrrm yeah. I get his point. But Jessica came out of the class beaming and has been again since!
*** You cycle to the music. The music is really at the heart of the workout and this makes all the difference in my opinion. The playlists are great and always different. The bonus is that there are often special theme classes (e.g. I went to the Carnival themed class during the Carnival weekend).
*** All the instructors are A-MA-ZING! Seriously, they are full of energy and very motivating. I always push myself far more that I think possible during the classes. Every time we’re asked to add some resistance, well I had a little more, even if it is just a tiny little bit. My favourite part of the class is the “meditation part”. The lights are dimmed, a candle is lit and the music is on full blast. It’s then you vs your body and you just push yourself, fuelled by the encouraging words of the instructor. I have regularly been to Bangs‘ class and I come out of it so empowered and ready to conquer the world!
*** The facilities are great. They provide you with two towels, the showers have REN shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There are also lots of little details such as hair dryers, cotton buds so you can rectify your eyeliner (or clean your ears), deodorant and even sanitary products in case you have forgotten yours. The other thing I like doing is to pre-order a recovery shake prior to my class so it’s waiting for me once I finish. Last time I had a delicious one made of almond milk, almond nut butter, whey protein and cinnamon.
Why do I call a BOOM cycle class a guilty pleasure? Because you are looking at £12 minimum per class which is not the most compatible with my current student budget. However, if I were to go out on a student night, I would probably be looking at spending the same. And since I don’t go out, I BOOM Cycle!
Have I convinced you to come to a morning class with me next time?
